Product Review: Curls Cashmere and Caviar Collection

  • June 28, 2018

Thanks to Curlfluence, I received Curls Cashmere and Caviar collection to test and review! I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never used any of Curls products before ?. Although, I’ve heard great things about their Blueberry Bliss collection.

The Cashmere and Caviar collection says it’ll help strengthen, restructure and add sheen to textured hair. I’ve only tried this collection once, so this is my initial reaction review. I’ll be sure to update this post if my thoughts change!

The main ingredients in this collection include:

  • Cashmere extract (helps tresses feel soft, yet strong)
  • Caviar extract (rich in Vitamin A and D + Omega 3, 6 and 9)
  • Champagne fruit extract (increases elasticity and manageability)

The Cashmere and Caviar collection is available at Curls.biz and Target.

Cashmere and Caviar Hair Bath

“Our luxurious hair bath gently cleanses with active charcoal as it naturally conditions with cashmere & caviar extract. It leaves hair looking and feeling silky smooth, cashmere soft.”

Curls

This shampoo is interesting in so many ways. First, it has activated charcoal included, which intrigued me. The product comes out pitch black, which I’ve never seen in a shampoo.

I got a good amount of slip from this shampoo, so I was able to detangle my hair. It also lathers really well, so you shouldn’t need much to coat your hair. I feel like this is close to a clarifying shampoo. While it didn’t strip my hair of its natural oils, my hair did feel clean. So I’d advise alternating this shampoo with one that is moisturizing.

Cashmere and Caviar Hair Masque

“Luxurious hair masque infused with cashmere & caviar extract, antioxidants and vitamins to strengthen and smooth your hair. It also helps repair any scalp damage and promotes faster hair growth and of course a healthier scalp.”

Curls

As mentioned above, I’ve never used Curls prior to this collection. After trying this hair masque though… I’m in love! The consistency of this masque is INSANE, it’s incredibly thick. I can’t stress enough how much I love thick deep conditioning treatments because:

  1. I end up using less product since it’s thick
  2. My hair feels, and looks, coated
  3. Detangling is a breeze
  4. My hair just absorbs all the product and feels hydrated

The cashmere and caviar hair masque will definitely be added into my favorite deep conditioners lineup. It melts into my hair like butter and left my hair feeling incredibly soft. I left this in for a few hours since it’s so thick and my hair just absorbed it all.

Cashmere and Caviar Hair Silk

“Soften, detangle, & moisture dry tresses with ease. No longer will wash day be a chore with this game changer. It will leave your kinks feeling like silk.”

Curls

The hair serum completely surprised me. I thought it’d be a creamy leave-in, but its consistency is more of a liquid-y serum. I was skeptical if this leave-in would be able to moisturize my hair, but I feel like it did. It isn’t the best moisturizing leave-in I’ve used, personally, but it does a good job. This will make your hair feel like silk, but the consistency should be a little thicker.

Cashmere and Caviar Hair Gelle

“Style while you reconstruct and strengthen your stressed and damaged hair. Light hold with added sheen and definition.”

Curls

The absolute highlight of this collection, IMO. If you’ve read any of my previous natural hair posts, then you’ll know I don’t use gel in my hair often. The cashmere and caviar hair gelle has a light hold and doesn’t come out in the color or consistency you’d expect from a gel. Instead, the product comes out creamy and slipped through my hair better than the hair silk.

Again, I don’t usually buy, or use, gel products for my hair. However, this is one I’d definitely buy!

Cashmere and Caviar Hair Serum

“Formulated with Champagne and Caviar extracts, this growth enhancing, hair strengthening treatment is THE solution for increasing hair growth and creating unbelievable sheen.”

Curls

I loved this hair serum, it provides great shine and a little goes a long way. It’s great to use as a sealant after applying your leave-in and cream/gel. This is one serum that I’ll be keeping in rotation!

Overall review of the Cashmere and Caviar Collection

  • I love the smell of this collection, it smells like flowers. The only product in this collection that didn’t have the best smell, IMO, was the hair bath. It smells like a bubble bath, which is interesting. I’m not too crazy with thinking about a bubble bath when I’m washing my hair, but it won’t deter me from using it.
  • I did a braid-out the first time I tried this collection and my hair was so shiny and defined! The cashmere proteins was much needed after my recent trip to Mexico as it helped strengthen my hair and add shine.
  • This entire collection is amazing, I’d definitely recommend! While some products stood out more than others, the entire collection is gold. Beware that this collection is on the pricey side, so it really is a luxurious collection.

Read my blog post for a full recap (🔗 in bio) on where I ate, played, and stayed in #Kenya🇰🇪 (#Nairobi and #Lamu) including @ololo_lodge, which was hands down one of my favorite stays because:

1. It's located in #NairobiNationalPark: Making it a great option if you're short on time but want to experience a safari 🦁🐒🦓🦒
2. Their staff is very attentive and friendly, especially their manager, James!
3. Your stay includes complimentary breakfast, lunch, dinner, and beverages (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)

Does anyone else love the first #washday after getting a trim? Your ends are healthy, detangling is a breeze, and your curls just act right 🤣

I've posted a couple of these "revert silk press back to curly hair" videos on the ⏰️ app, and enjoy making them because it's fascinating seeing how much my hair shrinks with just water, it's like magic ✨️😍

I love getting silk presses because I get a brief break from my curls and get my necessary trims. However, nothing beats my #naturalhair! I wish I appreciated my curls more when I was younger and not striving for straight hair or a looser curl pattern, but I'm happy I do now 🙏🏾

🎉 This month marks my 8 year #naturalhair anniv 🎉 This month marks my 8 year #naturalhair anniversary! On September 4, 2015, my stylist cut my relaxed ends, starting my #naturalhairjourney.

To celebrate the occasion, here's my usual #lengthcheck from my recent #silkpress and trim.

Embracing my natural hair was one of the best decisions I made in my early 20s. This is the healthiest (and longest) I've ever seen my hair 😍 but it took a lot of patience and mistakes to get my hair where it's today.

I've never really shared some of these mistakes, but there were many — including:

• Experiencing heat damage (my stylist and I were able to fix this and have since stopped using high heat towards the front of my hair)
• Accidently cutting ✂️ a piece of my hair when unraveling #passiontwists 😅 (thankfully, it was towards the back of my head and has since grown out)
• Having protein overload (I underestimated how strong @aphogee's protein treatment is 😬)

What mistakes have you made in your hair journey?

Do you wear your #naturalhair 👩🏾‍🦱 whil Do you wear your #naturalhair 👩🏾‍🦱 while on vacation?

For 90% of my trips, I put my natural hair in #minitwists or #minibraids. Both are great low-maintenance styles, keep my hair moisturized in any climate, and are versatile to style.

My favorite hairstyles for mini twists and braids are: two buns, a low ponytail or bun, or wearing a scarf with my twists/braids out.

For the other 10%, my hair is either: blown out and styled, in a protective style (mainly #passiontwists or #senegalesetwists), or silk pressed. It really depends on factors like: the climate at the destination I'm going to, activities I'm getting into, and duration of trip.
