Product Review: RedPro Hair Therapy Steamer

  • June 24, 2019

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]

I’ve been looking to step up my deep conditioning game with a hair steamer. My family gifted me the RedPro hair steamer last year for the holidays. Ever since then, I’ve incorporated it into my weekly wash day routine. This review is based on usage for six months.

Benefits

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]

According to RedPro, the hair steamer:

  • Moisturizes hair 6x more effectively
  • Prevents breakage and split ends:
    • Healthier cuticles
    • Stronger cortex
    • Soft, shiny hair
    • Easy detangling
  • Cleans your scalp:
    • Removes product build-up safely
    • Hydrates scalp to prevent dandruff
  • Spa facial at home:
    • Revitalizes skin elasticity
    • Replenishes luminosity
    • Restores moisture
    • Rejuvenates pores
    • Reduces wrinkles and fine lines

How to Incorporate the RedPro Hair Steamer into your:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Natural Hair Routine

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

I incorporate it on wash day when:

  • Pre-shampooing: I apply a conditioner and oil mix to my hair, sit under the hooded attachment, then detangle. I notice my hair is easier to detangle after using the hair steamer. I’ve also noticed that this step helps ensure my hair is moisturized throughout wash day.
  • Deep conditioning: After shampooing, I apply my favorite deep conditioner, sit under the hooded attachment, then detangle.

Facial Routine

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

My weekly, or bi-weekly facial routine with the Red Pro steamer looks like:

  • Cleanse
  • Exfoliate
  • Use RedPro steamer on face for 5-7 minutes
  • Mask
  • Hydrate

Overall Review on the RedPro Hair Steamer

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Pros:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

  • Moisturizes hair: The amount of moisture I get from using this steamer is amazing. I have high porosity hair, so my curls get dry fairly quickly. I’ve noticed that I’ve had better moisture retention since incorporating this steamer.
  • Helps with detangling: My high porosity hair gets tangled quickly. I feel like this steamer has been amazing in helping me detangle my hair easily. It’s probably because my hair is incredibly moisturized when using this steamer.
  • Helps with elasticity: Since using this steamer, the elasticity of my hair has been amazing. My curls bounce back and shrink with no issues.
  • Provides shine: I’ve noticed that my hair has been a lot shinier since steaming my hair. For my high porosity folks, you know that’s almost hard to come by.
  • Easy to assemble: Setting up the facial and hair steamer is very easy. I had no issues assembling when I first got my steamer.
  • Easy to clean: I really only clean the hooded attachment and cup to my hair steamer. However, cleaning both is fairly simple. I clean the cup when washing dishes, and I hand wash the hooded attachment with shampoo.
  • Rejuvenates skin: I really love the benefits the facial steamer provides. My skin can get really dry and dull. Since using this steamer, my skin has looked hydrated and luminous. It’s really the perfect addition to your skincare routine. I’ve gotten so many compliments about my skin looking smooth and bright.

Cons:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

  • One size hooded dryer: The hooded dryer attachment can’t be resized. So if you have a lot of hair, or a big head ?, you’ll have to be strategic when sitting under the dryer. If you do run into issues, I’d suggest using the facial attachment instead.
  • Hair steamer height: You can’t adjust the height of the steamer. So, you’ll have to be sure you place it somewhere that’s not too high, and not too low when using the hair steamer. If you do run into issues, I’d suggest using the facial attachment instead.
  • Hooded attachment material: The hooded attachment is made out of fragile material, so I’d handle with extreme care. I made the mistake of laying my hooded attachment under a wall decor that fell and cracked my attachment. You can’t get a replacement for the hooded attachment as RedPro doesn’t sell parts individually. So, if your attachment breaks/cracks, you’d have to get a whole new steamer. Thankfully, RedPro supplied me with another steamer so I could finish my review for ya’ll!

      Hi Geraldine,

Thank you for this comment! I’d be happy to help, but I’ll need you to be more specific as this question is very vague. Is your hair falling out in clumps when detangling? Is your hair dry even during wash day?

      Thanks,
      Paula

My Red-Pro Hair Therapy Steamer stopped working after two uses. What could be the potential problem?

      Hi Vanessa,

Thank you for reaching out! I’d suggest reaching out to Red by Kiss through info@redbykiss.com, or message them through their Facebook page regarding your steamer no longer working.

Read my blog post for a full recap (🔗 in bio) on where I ate, played, and stayed in #Kenya🇰🇪 (#Nairobi and #Lamu) including @ololo_lodge, which was hands down one of my favorite stays because:

Does anyone else love the first #washday after getting a trim? Your ends are healthy, detangling is a breeze, and your curls just act right 🤣

I've posted a couple of these "revert silk press back to curly hair" videos on the ⏰️ app, and enjoy making them because it's fascinating seeing how much my hair shrinks with just water, it's like magic ✨️😍

I love getting silk presses because I get a brief break from my curls and get my necessary trims. However, nothing beats my #naturalhair! I wish I appreciated my curls more when I was younger and not striving for straight hair or a looser curl pattern, but I'm happy I do now 🙏🏾

🎉 This month marks my 8 year #naturalhair anniv 🎉 This month marks my 8 year #naturalhair anniversary! On September 4, 2015, my stylist cut my relaxed ends, starting my #naturalhairjourney.

To celebrate the occasion, here's my usual #lengthcheck from my recent #silkpress and trim.

Embracing my natural hair was one of the best decisions I made in my early 20s. This is the healthiest (and longest) I've ever seen my hair 😍 but it took a lot of patience and mistakes to get my hair where it's today.

I've never really shared some of these mistakes, but there were many — including:

• Experiencing heat damage (my stylist and I were able to fix this and have since stopped using high heat towards the front of my hair)
• Accidently cutting ✂️ a piece of my hair when unraveling #passiontwists 😅 (thankfully, it was towards the back of my head and has since grown out)
• Having protein overload (I underestimated how strong @aphogee's protein treatment is 😬)

Do you wear your #naturalhair 👩🏾‍🦱 whil Do you wear your #naturalhair 👩🏾‍🦱 while on vacation?

For 90% of my trips, I put my natural hair in #minitwists or #minibraids. Both are great low-maintenance styles, keep my hair moisturized in any climate, and are versatile to style.

My favorite hairstyles for mini twists and braids are: two buns, a low ponytail or bun, or wearing a scarf with my twists/braids out.

For the other 10%, my hair is either: blown out and styled, in a protective style (mainly #passiontwists or #senegalesetwists), or silk pressed. It really depends on factors like: the climate at the destination I'm going to, activities I'm getting into, and duration of trip.
