True Blue Bay Boutique Resort Review

  • May 27, 2024

I had the opportunity to stay at True Blue Bay Boutique Resort during my trip to Grenada! This was my first time visiting the “Spice Isle” and True Blue made it an unforgettable experience. Below, I’m sharing a review of my stay at True Blue Bay Boutique Resort.

Disclaimer: I was a guest of True Blue Bay Boutique Resort, but all opinions here are my own.

Getting to True Blue Bay Boutique Resort

Once you’ve arrived at Maurice Bishop International Airport, the True Blue team can send a complimentary shuttle for pickup. And the drive is very quick, only about 10 minutes away! Be sure that you book this service before arriving in Grenada (at least 48 hours prior).

You’ll be dropped off and greeted in front of the reception area where you’ll check in. And then escorted, via a golf cart, to your room and given a mini-tour of the resort.

Rooms

You can choose from villas, suites, or rooms at True Blue, depending on your group size and needs. I stayed in one of their ocean-inspired Cocoa Pod rooms, which included:

  • 🛏️ King bed and a pull-out studio couch
  • 🍳 Compact kitchen with a sink, mini-fridge, microwave, and stove
  • 👚 Iron and ironing board
  • 🚽 Bathroom that offers shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
  • 🍽️ Dining table
  • 📺 Television

The room is spacious and included a patio with views of the lush lap pool.

Restaurant + Bar

Dodgy Dock Restaurant and Bar

One of the best and most popular restaurants in Grenada, in fact, check their Google and Tripadvisor reviews if you don’t believe me. This colorful, open-air restaurant offers stunning views, great service, and a mix of local, Caribbean, and international dishes.

Dodgy Dock serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and also offers different themed nights, including:

  • Wednesday Street Food Night: Their busiest night of the week filled with local street food vendors, live music, and more
  • Saturday: Their signature Caribbean Style Calypso BBQ and Buffet night

The Rum Shop Bar

Located near their beach pool, the Rum Shop Bar is where you can get rum cocktails and other beverages. I love their swings around the bar to sit on, but you can also take your drinks to nearby pools.

True Blue Experiences

Around the resort

There’s plenty to do and enjoy around True Blue if you don’t want to leave, including:

  • Relaxing in all 4 of their swimming pools;
  • Get a massage at their tree-top spa, Blue Haven Spa;
  • Taking yoga classes at their ocean view yoga studio, Sankalpa Studio;
  • Scuba diving through the True Blue Bay Boutique Resort and Aquanauts;
  • Indulge in chocolate treats at the House of Chocolate Bakery;
  • Or, even shopping at their gift shop, called Truebluetique.

Around Grenada

True Blue can also schedule tours for you around Grenada — because, what can’t they do at this point, right 😂? We booked a half-day tour and our guide was truly amazing, we learned a lot about Grenada through him! During our tour, we visited the House of Chocolate Museum, Annandale Falls, Spice Market, and Grand Etang National Park.

Want to have a beach day at the nearby Grand Anse Beach or Morne Rouge Beach (BBC)? Well, True Blue also provides complimentary shuttle service to, and from, both beaches every day.

Conclusion

Sharing some final thoughts from my stay at True Blue Bay Resort:

  • I love that check-out is at noon instead of the standard 11 am, that extra hour truly made a difference
  • True Blue Bay is definitely family-friendly, but also a great accommodation for friends, couples, and even groups
  • Daily breakfast is also included in your stay
  • Upgrade your stay to an all-inclusive and have all meals, drinks, and entertainment included
  • True Blue Bay is truly the epitome of an eco-chic resort, they’re passionate about sustainability. In fact, here are some fun facts about their green list:
    • They have electric golf carts used to transfer luggage and guests
    • Solar panels provide 30% of electricity needs at full occupancy
    • They collect and store rainwater for the dry season
    • No chlorine is used on the property — in fact, all pools are treated with salt water

All in all, I’d highly recommend staying at True Blue Bay Boutique Resort if you’re making a trip to Grenada!

Confession: My hair lives in mini twists about 95% Confession: My hair lives in mini twists about 95% of the time and I'm 100% okay with that 🤷🏾‍♀️

It's one of the things that has helped with my length retention over the years. And while it might not be the most "exciting" style, it's consistent (a must for my busy schedule), incredibly versatile, and keeps my high porosity, high density, fine hair moisturized and ends tucked away.

This is just one of the many tips I share in my 30+ page natural hair handbook.

If you want to:
👩🏾‍🦱 Simplify your routine
👩🏾‍🦱 Understand your hair's unique characteristics
👩🏾‍🦱 Find products that actually work for you
👩🏾‍🦱 Discover styles that aid in length retention
👩🏾‍🦱 Learn how to travel with your curls

Then this is the handbook for you. It's essentially everything I wish I knew when I first started my natural hair journey.

I’ve reached the stage of life where I refuse to c I’ve reached the stage of life where I refuse to come home needing a "vacation from my vacation."

When I planned this Tuscany 🇮🇹 trip, I knew the only way I’d actually reset was to intentionally leave space for me to just... be. Coming off a heavy month of April (marking the 10-year anniversary of my dad’s passing) this time away was more than just a trip, it was a necessary pause for my mental health.

I loved the busyness of Florence, but also needed the stillness of the countryside. So, we retreated to the Tuscan hills (via: @locandadeilogi) to drink a copious amount of wine 🍷 (via: @colombaio_santachiara), eat well (via: @cantinettadeilogi), sunbathe and nap poolside. 😴

I used my customizable itinerary template to include that balance into the schedule ahead of time, so I didn’t have to do anything once we arrived, besides relax.

Grab the exact template I use through the link in my bio 🔗 (also, my Tuscany blog post is coming soon).

Ecuador 🇪🇨 is really slept on (IMO), it's such a b Ecuador 🇪🇨 is really slept on (IMO), it's such a beautiful country with so much to offer!

Here are some things I'd recommend doing 👇🏾

🐎 Horseback riding in Cotopaxi National Park where you get views of three volcanoes, including Cotopaxi (which is one of the world's highest active volcanoes 🌋).

🐖 Try their traditional dish, cuy (guinea pig). I avoided it in Peru because both countries typically serve it whole with the head on 🥴. However, I tried it at @somos.rest in a dumpling 🥟 and it was actually delicious.

🌎 Straddle the equatorial line by visiting the Ciudad Mitad del Mundo.

⛰️ Get a day pass at @lunavolcan where you can relax in several pools/jacuzzis with views overlooking Baños, and more.

🍫 Cacao is native to the Amazon, so if you're a chocolate lover, eat up at places like @republicadelcacao's chocolate lab.

💦 Visit the @cascadaelpailon waterfall.

My Ecuador post sharing where to eat, play, and stay in Quito, Baños, and Cotopaxi is now live (link 🔗 in bio).

This month marks my 10th natural hair anniversary! This month marks my 10th natural hair anniversary! 🎉 On September 4, 2015, I officially started my #naturalhairjourney (after 3 years of transitioning from relaxed hair).

➡️ Swipe for things I've learned about natural hair care through this decade-long journey. Also sharing some additional tips below:

1️⃣ Protective styles ≠ healthy hair. Imma hold your hand when I say this: Protective styles aren't a shortcut to healthy hair. They're a break from styling, not an excuse for neglect. If you aren't taking care of your hair underneath, what are you actually protecting? 🤔

2️⃣ Textured hair is not created equal. What works for someone else might not work for you. Get to know your hair. You can get a consultation from a stylist, or take the @myavanahaircare analysis test.

3️⃣ Healthy habits = healthy hair. If you’re not taking care of yourself inside and out, your hair will tell on you 🗣. Drink your water 💦, move your body💪🏾, manage your stress, take your @blackgirlvitamins (I got a discount code via link in bio). Healthy hair starts with a healthy you.

🥂 Cheers to 10 years of learning to love the hair that naturally grows out of my scalp.

From surfing with a Black-owned surf school 🏄🏾‍♀️ to a wine tasting and pairing at a Black woman-owned restaurant, we had a time 😍
